Frank (Tex) Wilkins
Until August 2011, Frank (Tex) Wilkins was responsible for the development of solar thermal electric power at the Department of Energy (DOE) in Washington, D.C. During the eleven years at that position he worked with industry, national laboratories, utilities, and State agencies to further the goal of increasing the use of solar thermal electric power in the United States. This work focused primarily on research, development, and deployment of solar thermal electric power technologies. He also represented the United States in the SolarPACES (Solar Power and Chemical Energy Systems) implementing agreement of the International Energy Agency.
Prior to becoming the CSP Team Leader, he was responsible for the Solar Industrial and Solar Buildings Programs at DOE. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland with Bachelor and Masters degrees in mechanical engineering.
